League's Hunt to Serve as CUNA Examination & Supervision Subcommittee Vice Chair; Named to Board of Statewide Financial Education Organization
League President/CEO Carrie Hunt has been named Vice Chair of the CUNA Advocacy Committee’s Examination & Supervision Subcommittee, and also recently joined the board of the Virginia Council of Economic Education, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing Virginia’s K-12 students with the knowledge and personal finance skills necessary to succeed in today’s dynamic economy.
The Examination & Supervision Subcommittee is tasked to monitor, address, and advise CUNA staff on and make recommendations to the Advocacy Committee on the concern for safe, fair and efficient examinations for federal and state credit unions; the structure of the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund and other federal government programs affecting credit unions; the budget and resource allocation of state and federal credit union regulators; accounting proposals and initiatives; and all other NCUA-related matters. Hunt will serve a one-year term.
VCEE provides professional development opportunities for K-12 teachers to assist them in teaching economics and personal finance. With the support of donors and partners, VCEE institutes and workshops are provided at no cost to teachers and school divisions. Credit unions have a long history of working with VCEE and other nonprofit financial education partners. In fact, we worked closely with VCEE and other partners a decade ago on the passage and enactment of the law now in place that requires public school students receive a semester of instruction on personal finance in order to graduate.
