League, CUs Wrap Up Busy Week of Advocacy

Ben Cline (R-6) (second from left) to discuss a host of issues, including cybersecurity, regulatory relief and credit unions' support of our communities, including lending to small businesses. Credit unions and the League are wrapping up a busy and successful week of advocacy in Washington, D.C. and Richmond.
More than 130 Virginians participated in CUNA's Governmental Affairs Conference, with the League hosting a reception at the national Credit Union House and visiting lawmakers on Capitol Hill. While in Washington, we also had the opportunity to meet with National Credit Union Administration Board Member Rodney Hood.
In Richmond, our two credit union parity measures took their final legislative steps and are en route to the governor's desk for his signature.

"Our success in advocacy hinges on the support, involvement and engagement of our credit unions," said League President/CEO Carrie Hunt. "Our thanks to the credit union representatives who trekked to Washington to meet with lawmakers and work to advance our policy objectives. Thanks also to all those who supported our efforts to get our two parity measures through the Virginia General Assembly. We should be proud of what we've accomplished at both the state and federal levels this week. Let's maintain that momentum as we continue our work to ensure credit unions have the tools they need to succeed in today's marketplace."
