League Congratulates State Sen. McClellan on Winning Democratic Primary in 4th Congressional District Race
State Sen. Jennifer McClellan has won the Democratic nomination for Virginia's 4th Congressional District in the special election to succeed the late Rep. Donald McEachin, the commonwealth's Democratic Party announced early Thursday morning in a news release, putting her in a prime position to become the first Black woman to represent the Old Dominion in Congress.
“We congratulate state Sen. McClellan on her win in the Democratic primary. Credit unions will be closely watching the 4th Congressional District race as it marches toward the special election on Feb. 21,” said Virginia Credit Union League President/CEO Carrie Hunt. “The next Congress is likely to wrestle with a number of issues of critical importance to credit unions and our members, including consumer privacy measures, legislation that might endanger consumer access to credit cards, and bills related to the regulatory burden borne by the nation’s community financial institutions. We look forward to working with whomever ultimately wins the 4th District seat, which is home to some 265,000 credit union members.”
