Debra Scott Retiring After 47 Years With League
Our dear friend and colleague, Debra Scott, is retiring from the League on March 4 after a 47-year career. While many of you may not have had the pleasure of meeting Debra, you should know that she’s been a pillar of our organization, working behind the scenes to make the rest of us look good!
An associate’s degree in hand, Debra joined the League in July 1975, affectionately known then as “Farley’s Funny Farm,” for League president, Gene Farley. (There are some stories, but if you want those, you’ll need to ask Debra!)
It was a different world then, with lithographs and Xerox machines ruling the office space and “urgent communications” meant cranking out and collating copies of documents by hand for a same-day mailing. In those days, she had a team of auditors and consultants to support, as well. Between those League staff members and 400 credit unions, the phone, she says, never stopped ringing.
“I really enjoyed my career at the League and helping credit unions,” notes Debra. “I made good friends here and I hope I made a difference.”
We can say, definitively, that she did, indeed, make a difference! As she prepares for this next chapter in her life, her friends here at the League lift her up in hopes for a happy, healthy retirement; one full of joy, family and friends.
