CUs, League Host Greater Hampton Roads Lawmakers at Aug. 23 Reception

Credit unions and the League played host to 10 lawmakers and legislative aides at a legislative reception in Newport News on Aug. 23.

Hosted at BayPort Credit Union's headquarters, 70 credit union supporters from across Greater Hampton Roads joined us to network with local lawmakers, including:

• Sen. Mamie Locke (D-2)
• Sen. Monty Mason (D-1)
• Del. A.C. Cordoza (R-91)
• Del. Jackie Glass (D-89)
• Del. Karen Greenhalgh (R-85)
• Del. Clinton Jenkins (D-76)
• Del. Shelly Simonds (D-94)

Also attending were legislative aides for Sen. Mark Warner, Rep. Bobby Scott (D-3rd) and Del. Amanda Batten (R-96).

"The success of our advocacy efforts hinges on the relationships we build with lawmakers," said CeJae Vtipilson, League Director of Grassroots Programs and Political Fundraising. "It's critically important that we connect with lawmakers to discuss the issues that matter to our members and the future of the credit union industry."
