Call Federal, RiverTrace Credit Unions Finalize Merger Details

Richmond, VA – Call Federal Credit Union is becoming a little bit bigger in the greater Richmond community after merging with RiverTrace Credit Union, a financial institution with over sixty years of history in the region. After approval by the National Credit Union Association in mid-2019 and an affirmative vote for the merger at a special RiverTrace member meeting on October 30th, the merger will become official on February 3, 2020.
“I look forward to our combined organization delivering on our shared purpose, helping members improve their financial health,” says John West, CEO and President of Call Federal Credit Union, which will remain the name of the merged organization.
With this organizational shift, the former RiverTrace Credit Union branch on Staples Mill Road in Richmond will become a seventh Call Federal branch location available to all members, and all former RiverTrace members will now also have access to Call Federal’s wide range of loan products and savings opportunities, mobile banking and enhanced card controls apps, and dedicated team of Certified Credit Union Financial Counselors.
“Both Call Federal and RiverTrace were founded as cooperatives, groups of people with a common goal to pool resources to serve their communities,” continues West. “By merging and expanding our cooperative, not only can we better manage changing regulations and growing technology costs, but we also are better able to serve our members while still meeting our original cooperative principles. For all of us, that’s a huge win—for our legacies, for our present, and for our future.”
Established in 1962 by employees of Phillip Morris, Call Federal Credit Union has a strong history in the Richmond area, including their signature “Money and Beyond” financial education program.
