The Chartway Promise Foundation Awards $770,000 in Charitable Grants to Make Dreams and Wishes Come to Life for Children Facing Medical Challenges

Virginia Beach, VA (January 4, 2023)-With a mission to provide the funding needed to make dreams and wishes come true for children facing medical hardship, Chartway’s charity – the Chartway Promise Foundation – hosted several fundraisers in 2022. Thanks to its 6th Annual Putting for Promises Golf Tournament, 23rd Annual Charity Golf Classic, and other campaigns, its board was able to approve $770,000 in charitable grants to the following non-profits who share its mission:

  • Children’s Assistive Technology Services – Norfolk, VA
  • Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters – Virginia Beach, VA
  • Families of Autistic Children of Tidewater (FACT) – Virginia Beach, VA
  • Hampton University Proton Therapy Institute (HUPTI Smiles) – Hampton, VA
  • Hooked on Hope – Virginia Beach, VA
  • Make-a-Wish Foundation of Greater Virginia – VA
  • Roc Solid Foundation – Chesapeake, VA
  • St. Mary’s Home – Norfolk, VA
  • Toby’s Dream Foundation – Virginia Beach, VA
  • Ability Found – Salt Lake City, UT
  • Eye Care for Kids – Midvale, UT
  • Make-a-Wish Foundation of Utah – UT

“As the charitable arm of Chartway, we’re honored to help fulfill the credit union’s commitment to strengthening the communities we serve,” said Wayne Foshay, the Chartway Promise Foundation’s board chair. “Giving back to our communities is a social responsibility that we take very seriously and why we raise money, allowing us to partner with companion charities, business partners, sponsors, and contributors to provide the financial support needed to make dreams and wishes come to life for children facing medical challenges.”

In 2022, Chartway’s charity won 1st Place honors in the State of Virginia and 3rd place honors nationally for its work. The foundation was also awarded two honors through the Salt City Best program hosted by The Salt Lake Tribune – Gold for the “Best Charity Event” for its Putting for Promises golf tournament and Silver as the “Best Nonprofit Organization” as voted by readers.

Chartway has received numerous accolades, including from Forbes as one of its America’s Best Credit Unions for 2022, on American Banker’s Top Credit Union to Work For 2022 list, and as a 2022 Top Workplaces USA winner by Energage and a Top Workplaces in Utah 2022 by The Salt Lake Tribune.
