Fort Lee FCU Teams Up to Donate $22,000 to Service Dogs of Virginia

Fort Lee Federal Credit Union was proud to donate $22,000 to Service Dogs of Virginia. Total funds raised were the combined result of three charitable initiatives.  Fort Lee Federal Credit Union’s Annual Charity Golf Tournament proceeds totaled $18,000. The event was hosted in September at the Cardinal Golf Course on Fort Lee. A very special thanks goes to our event sponsors: CUNA Mutual, Premier Sponsor; Fiserv, Registration and Range Sponsor; Eddie Whitlock of Lafayette, Ayers and Whitlock, Dinner Sponsor; Allied Solutions, Contest Sponsor; Beverage Sponsors; Cart and Hole Sponsors; and all participants and volunteers.Fort Lee Federal Credit Union was proud to donate $22,000 to Service Dogs of Virginia. Fort Lee FCU was honored to participate in AFFN’s (Armed Forces Financial Network) Matching Grant Program which matched the credit union’s donation for a combined total of $3,000.

Further, the credit union matched 100% of the proceeds from annual meeting dinner ticket sales for a sum of $1,000.

Fort Lee Federal Credit Union is deeply appreciative of our members, community supporters, and business partners for teaming up to make this such a successful fundraising effort.

About Service Dogs of Virginia

Service Dogs of Virginia is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that raises, trains, and places dogs to assist people with disabilities and provides facility dogs for courthouses, counseling centers, schools, and other therapeutic settings. Founded in 2000 by Executive Director Peggy Law, SDV has placed over 100 working dogs in the Commonwealth of Virginia. SDV does not pass on the significant cost of training and placing the dogs; instead, it relies on individual donations, corporate sponsorships, and philanthropic organizations to support its mission.
