Virginia Beach, VA (February 23, 2023) – The Chartway Promise Foundation – the charitable arm of Chartway Credit Union – hosted a successful Promise Night at the Arena on February 22, 2023, at Chartway Arena in Norfolk, VA. The event was held during the Old Dominion University Men’s Basketball game and brought together the foundation’s companion charities, supporters, board members, leaders, team members, dozens of kid heroes assisted through its grant program, and their families.

The evening kicked off with the game announcer introducing Chartway Promise Night at the Arena, welcoming Promise Heroes and their families, and announcing that every ODU 3-point basket would mean $100 donated to the Chartway Promise Foundation. During the evening, attendees watched a very special video message on the Jumbotron that showcased the Chartway Promise Foundation’s impact and its efforts to bring joy, hope, and smiles to children facing medical hardship. Julian, who was granted his wish for a trip to Disney by Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia, funded by Chartway Promise Foundation and the star of the video, shared his medical struggles and how important the trip was to him and his family. When all was tallied at the end of the night, $500 was raised to grant much needed funds for dreams and wishes.

“Promise Night at the Arena was a wonderful celebration of the difference we make in the lives of children facing medical challenges,” said president of the Chartway Promise Foundation, Christine Wilson. “It was heartwarming to see the smiles on the faces of our Promise Heroes and their families and to witness the outpouring of support from our community. The Chartway Promise Foundation is committed to continuing our efforts to bring joy, hope, and smiles to those who need it most.”

“We are thrilled to host Promise Night at the Arena and to bring the community together to support children facing medical challenges,” said Chartway president & CEO, Brian Schools. “The Chartway Promise Foundation is the flagship of Chartway’s Community Commitment and dedicated to providing support for children in need. We’re honored to play a part in making a positive impact in their lives.”
