ABNB FCU Announces Appointment of Andrew Keeney to Board of Directors, As Longtime Member David Krause Steps Down

Chesapeake, VA | December 2nd | For Immediate Release - Mr. David Krause recently announced his intent to step down from his position on the ABNB Board of Directors after more than 19 years. The Board has unanimously voted to appoint Mr. Andrew Keeney to fill this position, effective December 1st, 2020.

Following graduation from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1961, Krause began a 22½ year career as a Naval Flight Officer flying aircraft carriers in the Mediterranean Sea, and off the coast of Vietnam. While on active duty he obtained Master’s Degrees in Business Administration and Public Administration. He retired from the Navy as a Commander in 1983.
Following his military retirement, Krause became an insurance and investment advisor with Mass Mutual Life Insurance Company. He also purchased part interest in a pension administration company, where he was involved in marketing and administering profit sharing and 401(k) plans to small- and medium-sized businesses, primarily in Virginia and North Carolina. He is now fully retired and has served on the ABNB FCU Supervisory Committee since February 2011, and was elected Chairman in 2014.
We congratulate and thank Mr. Krause for his dedication and service to ABNB Credit Union and our members. We wish him the best, and hope that he enjoys his well-deserved retirement with his wife, four children, and six grandchildren.
Mr. E. Andrew Keeney
Keeney has been a part of the ABNB team for over 20 years. He is a nationally recognized retired credit union attorney who has been assisting, consulting, and representing credit unions for over 45 years. He is extremely knowledgeable in many issues confronting credit unions and the credit union industry. He was deeply involved in ABNB’s development of its main office along with the vast majority of its branches.
He is a retired member of the law firm of Kaufman & Canoles, where he served as the Co-Chairman of the firm’s Credit Union Industry Team. Previously in his career, he served as the in-house Legal Counsel to the State Department FCU and thereafter served as the in-house General Counsel to PenFed. Keeney has also served on the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club in Hampton Roads, and the Board of the Hampton Roads District Council for the Urban Land Institute.
He and his wife of 47 years live in the Outer Banks where he has served on the Whalehead Preservation Trust Board, the Outer Banks Homebuilders Association, and the Holy Redeemer Parish Council. He is a frequent lecturer on a wide variety of credit union topics and is honored to have been named to the Board of Directors of ABNB FCU.
