League Showcases Advocacy Efforts, Most-Pressing Issues at Ignite 2022
League President/CEO Carrie Hunt hosted a 'fireside chat' with Congressman Ben Cline to discuss the financial services industry's most-pressing legislative issues.
To all those who joined us in Roanoke last week, thank you for being a part of Ignite 2022 and the League Annual Meeting! We had more than 270 credit union champions and business partners in attendance to celebrate the Commonwealth’s credit unions. So, if you missed it, you really missed out…
Much of our programming this year focused on our legislative and regulatory affairs work on behalf of credit unions, but we also spotlighted the legislative and regulatory issues confronting credit unions.
An important component of our work is building good working relationships with lawmakers and regulators, and we were pleased to be joined in-person by Congressman Ben Cline (R-6th), Virginia Dels. Sam Rasoul (D-Roanoke) and Joe McNamara (R-Roanoke), and National Credit Union Administration Regional Director John Kutchey.
League President/CEO Carrie Hunt (pictured left) offered an overview of the legislative and regulatory landscape, spotlighting emerging issues for credit unions, including cannabis banking, cryptocurrency and the regulation of overdraft-related products.
She also hosted a wide-ranging conversation with Kutchey, which covered everything from subordinated debt to NCUA’s relationship with state regulators. (We recorded this session so stay tuned for details on accessing this presentation!)
Carrie also held a “fireside chat” with Rep. Cline, covering issues such as the partisan rancor in Washington, cannabis banking and addressing credit unions’ regulatory burden.
