Financial Education Committee Sharing ‘Message of Hope’ in Thanking Teachers, School Staff

It’s been an especially tough year on our teachers, educators and school staffs. The League’s Financial Education Committee has launched a new initiative called “Message of Hope” to thank those educators for their work in continuing to educate and mentor young people during the pandemic.

They are also reminding educators that credit unions stand ready as a financial education resource, by providing classroom materials and presentations, including virtual or in-person participation.

If you want to thank your local educators for their tremendous work during the pandemic, contact your League’s Mary Amyx for details on recording a short video message via Tribute. Deadline to submit your video is April 2.

Here's the intro message to the “Message of Hope” initiative!

The Financial Education Committee representing 100 credit unions across Virginia wants you to know we are here for you. For 10 years, the Financial Education Committee has been committed to providing financial literacy resources and Real Money Experience teacher training seminars to Virginia Educators.

Due to the overwhelming pressures on educators across the Commonwealth we will not be holding our Real Money Experience trainings this year, however we remain passionate about continuing our outreach to Virginia Educators in a new way. The Committee is now able to expand our support to Virginia Educators by teaming up with other financial education organizations, like Jump$tart Coalition of Virginia.

If you need someone to come into your classrooms, whether virtually or in person, or if you are looking for free or low-cost financial resources, please know that we are standing together as a league of credit unions and as a trusted community partner to you.

Thank you so much for all the hard work, time, and energy you put into teaching personal finance to students and know that we are here for you.
