DuPont Community Credit Union (DCCU) held a special credit card campaign – Shop & Give – that benefited its members and the community. During the months of July and August, DCCU credit card holders received additional rewards points or cash back for their grocery purchases. In turn, DCCU would make a donation to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank (BRAFB) in relation to the dollars spent on grocery purchases.

As a result of its Shop & Give campaign, DCCU was pleased to donate $20,000 to the Food Bank, which will help them provide over 80,000 meals for families in need.

“The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank is a community food bank, and it takes all of us working together to achieve our vision where everyone has enough to eat,” said Millie Winstead, BRAFB’s Director of Development & Community Engagement. “DCCU is an outstanding partner in this mission – I mean “community” is in their name and they live and show that time-and-again. The Food Bank and our network of partner agencies have seen record demand for assistance. But, we know with the help of people and organizations such as DCCU, we can set a place at the table for everyone.”

“We are grateful for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and the important role they play in helping to alleviate hunger in our community. It’s particularly important right now as the need for food assistance continues to rise,” said Steve Elkins, DCCU President and CEO. “I also appreciate our members and their support of this campaign, especially at a time when rising grocery prices continue to impact all consumers.”
