Bronco Federal Credit Union is pleased to award nine high school seniors from the community with scholarships to help them begin their continued educational journey. 

This year’s program awarded two $5,000 scholarships, two $3,000 scholarships, one $2,000 scholarship, and four $1,000 scholarships to the graduating seniors. 

Mackenzie West of Nansemond River High School and Hope Bunn of Southampton High School are the recipients of the $5,000 John Alan Glasgow Memorial Scholarships. This scholarship is named in memory of John Alan Glasgow, Class of 1999, to recognize the scholastic and life achievements of a graduating student.

Meaghan Ellis of Southampton High School is the recipient of the $3,000 Charles A. Wrenn Scholarship.  William Belmonte III of Southampton Academy is the $3,000 recipient of the James C. Copeland Scholarship.  These two named scholarships were added in 2018 in recognition of two long-serving board members and former Chairmen of the Board who dedicated over 30 years to the BFCU  board of directors.

Amani Gary of Southampton High School is the recipient of the $2,000 Robert T. Petty Scholarship.  This scholarship was just named in 2019 in memory of Bronco’s former CEO, Robert T. “Bob” Petty.  Bob spent the better part of his career with BFCU and retired in 2011.

Emma McClelland of Southampton High School, Clifford Fox of Southampton Academy, Grace Goode of Franklin High School, and Benjamin Salerno of Lakeland High School are the $1,000 Bronco Scholarship recipients. The 2019 scholarship winners have demonstrated excellent community and extracurricular activity involvement as well as strong academics throughout their high school careers.
